Exercise with Breast Implants

A common concern of Long Island women before breast augmentation is how implants will impact physical exertion. During your initial consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gregory Diehl, it is important that you discuss your exercise and lifestyle preferences.

Dr. Diehl will take into account your physical requirements before suggesting the breast implant options that are least likely to interfere with your exercise routine.

Breast Implant Options

As a general rule, breast implants will not impact casual activities and exercise. However, certain considerations will need to be made if you participate in specific sports, particularly if you are competitive.

Dr. Diehl will need to know if you are a competitive swimmer or if you engage in sports such as tennis, baseball, or golf, which require a specific range of motion. This will allow him to tailor the type, size, and placement of your implant that will least impact your physical abilities. If you lift weights, Dr. Diehl may recommend implants placed above the muscle in your chest. If you participate in contact sports, submuscular placement may be best.

There are a number of breast implant options that allow Dr. Diehl to cater your procedure to meet your needs. Being upfront with Dr. Diehl during your breast augmentation planning phase will allow him to choose those options ideally suited to you.

If you live in or around Long Island, New York and are interested in learning more about your breast implant options, please contact Diehl Plastic Surgery to schedule an initial consultation.
