Silicone vs. Saline Breast Implants

One of the breast implant options you will need to consider prior to your breast augmentation procedure is which type of implant is right for you. Long Island plastic surgeon Dr. Gregory Diehl will discuss all of your options in full during your initial consultation, but coming to your consultation with a general idea of the differences between silicone and saline breast implants can be helpful in making an informed decision.

Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone breast implants have a tendency to look and feel more like natural breast tissue. Silicone implants are also less likely to ripple or wrinkle compare to saline implants.

Saline Breast Implants

Saline implants do not look and feel as natural as their silicone alternatives. In addition, saline implants are more prone to aesthetic imperfections such as rippling and wrinkling, although this is less of an issue if you have your implants placed below the muscles in your chest.

There is no single option best for every patient. Dr. Diehl will listen closely to your desires, inform you of all of your options, and help you determine which breast implant type is best for you.

If you live in or around Long Island, New York and would like to learn more about your breast implant options, please contact Diehl Plastic Surgery to schedule an initial consultation.
