Following your Long Island liposuction
procedure, you will need to give your body time to heal. While strenuous
exercise can cause strain on your body during the first week of recovery, activities such as walks
should be resumed within one to two days following your surgery. Walking can
reduce swelling, increase blood flow to speed recovery, and help you start on
your way to a generally more active lifestyle.
When to Exercise
After the first week of recovery, you may be able to adopt a
more aerobic type of exercise such as speed walking and by week three you may
even be able to start jogging or taking exercise classes. However, exercise should only be increased as
you can tolerate it.
Long Island liposuction surgeon Dr. Gregory Diehl will work
closely with you during your recovery to help you better gauge when it is
appropriate to add new and more strenuous forms of exercises.
To maintain your liposuction results, you will need to
commit to weekly exercise. Optimal activities are different for every person.
You may wish to work with a personal trainer to develop a routine that works
best for you.
